Ma recherche s’articule autour de formes de fictions actives<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n Je m\u2019immisce dans les interstices<\/em>, les espaces o\u00f9 se m\u00ealent le dessein humain et la force sauvage. J’aborde les questions du mythe et de l’\u00e9cologie en m’attachant aux g\u00e9ographies, qu’elles soient scientifiques, culturelles ou sensibles. Dans l’\u00e9coute des lieux et de ce qui les peuple, je d\u00e9rive dans les directions que me propose le terrain qui m’accueille. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Le rendez-vous avec ce territoire source<\/em> et les atmosph\u00e8res qu’il charrie est fondateur. On se c\u00f4toie un certain temps et c’est alors que je collecte les \u00e9l\u00e9ments structurants l’imaginaire qui prendra forme. Chemin faisant, je passe du r\u00f4le d’arpenteur \u00e0 celui de narrateur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n J’aime \u00e0 sentir que le terrain discerne ma pr\u00e9sence. Il sait que l’on progresse ensemble. Il m’observe quand je m’approche pour nouer contact, cherchant un fragment de lui \u2013 qui le dessine ou le forge \u2013 pour me l’approprier et en faire notre \u00e9tendard, vecteur de m\u00e9tamorphoses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mon corps d\u00e9signe un point d’\u00e9quilibre, une balance o\u00f9 se croisent des devenirs\u00a0: l’art tient du surgissement, de la surprise puis de la transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n My research revolves around forms of active fictions<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I intrude into interstices<\/em>, spaces where human design and wild force mingle. I approach questions of myth and ecology by focusing on geographies, whether scientific, cultural or sensitive. Listening to places and wthat populates them, I drift in the directions suggested by land that welcomes me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The encounter with this source territory<\/em> and the atmospheres it conveys is foundational. We rub shoulders for a while, and it’s then that I gather the elements that structure the imaginary that will take shape. Along the way, I pass from the role of explorer to that of narrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I like to feel that land discerns my presence. It knows we’re progressing together. It observes me when I approach to make contact, looking for a fragment of it \u2013 that draws it or forges it \u2013 to make it my own and turn it into our banner, vector of metamorphosis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n My body is a point of balance, a scale where becomings intersect: art is about arising, surprise and then transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n …<\/p>\n\n\n\n Laurent Odelain s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 la g\u00e9ographie et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cologie. His approach is based on attention to the landscape and the experience of the living. Through territories exploration, the artist gathers materials \u2012 images, sounds, objects \u2012 that form the genesis of his works. Between prosaic reality and imaginary stories, Laurent Odelain handles what exists to reveal its narrative scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Evolving from sculpture to performance, through video and photography, Laurent Odelain invests himself in each step of the creation process and never abstracts himself from his work. His sleek installations invite the audience to consider the fragility of existence, and to rethink the link between human beings and the environment shared by all living things.
